Andrew Abraham (Surveyor)
BSc, ACICES
Andrew specialising in topographic surveys for the water industry, our senior surveyor has been employed in the sector for over 20 years. Not restricted to the water industry, he has undertaken topographic surveys for proposed housing and retail developments, flood risk assessments and waste transfer station licences. Experience in providing GPS control surveys, allowing surveys to be tied into the National Grid, Ordnance Datum and latest digital Ordnance Survey mapping available. Andrew has also undertake monitoring works, using Digital Precise levels, capable of measuring to 1/100th of a mm. As part of the service offering, drawings can be presented as paper plots, pdf’s or in a digital format, suitable for use with AutoCAD or various modelling software, in both a 2D or 3D format. The services also included providing cross sections can be issued as both a drawing and spread sheet. Andrew has expertise in buried services surveys using Ground Penetrating Radar and various other equipment we can identify various buried services. This information can then be overlain onto our site survey, providing a complete overview of the proposed development site. Andrew has many years of setting out experience and can undertake setting out, using either a local grid or tying into the National grid. Setting out can be undertaken using duel frequency GPS, Total Stations or digital laser levels. Points to be set out, can either be taken off digital drawings or from spread sheets, provided by the client. Methodologies for setting out may involve the use of coordinates or centre line and offset.
Martin Gardener (Architect)
BSc(Hons), BArch(Dist) RIBA
Martin is a Chartered Architect and was previously a Director of a well-respected medium sized regional firm. Martin is a very experience professional able to provide architectural services on residential, commercial, healthcare, leisure, residential and nursing care and industrial projects, including new build, conversion, extension, alteration, conservation and historic building projects. These services can include work through all the RIBA Work Stages, covering feasibility studies, sketch schemes, measured surveys, developed design, planning applications, reports, design team leader and design manager, detailed and technical design, building regulations and tender packages, and contract administration. Working on projects from £20K up to £1.5 – 2M, but his expertise has been built up through working on a very wide range of projects. His experience ranges across a wide range of building types, with a large variety of construction and procurement methods. Values of projects he has handled extend to £15m and the scope of his projects includes new build and refurbishment work within both the public and private sectors. Martin has been responsible for a number of health sector and care sector projects, including residential, nursing care and ExtraCare, Primary Care Medical Surgeries and Health Centres. In the non-residential field, Martin has been responsible for many industrial and commercial schemes and Fire Station projects again, several achieving BREEAM ‘Excellent’, demonstrating his commitment to high environmental performance standards, innovative design, and ‘green’ issues.
Paul Bowyer (Project Manager)
Qualifications
A chartered construction manager and surveyor with over 40 years’ programme and project management experience. Five years as Head of Estates for RFCA for Wales, and seven years running his own consultant project management company. Paul has over seventeen years’ experience working with Royal Mail Group Property and fourteen years with the former South Glamorgan County Council. He managed RFCA Estates team for the whole of Wales, responsible for the maintenance for 320 properties on 200 sites. Project management for capital new build schemes circa £500k to £11M, this included new RFCA Cadets HQ in North Wales, various new Joint Cadet Centres and developer led HMS Cambria in Cardiff bay. An experience Project Manager undertaking schemes for Royal Mail Group Property. Previously worked in collaboration with Faithful and Gould, Boyes Rees Architects, Cox and Co, Quadrant Consulting and Splendid Hotels Group. Delivered projects circa £50K up to £54M for clients including Royal Mail, Post Office Counters, Parcel Force Worldwide, Royal Mail Vehicle Services, Cashco and Royal Mail International. This included managing the design and procurement of commercial industrial units and fitting out contracts, large Office refurbishment projects and High street commercial refurbishments. Manages the whole project life cycle to PRINCE2 or Gateway standards, including cost – justification, value engineering, procurement, third party liaison, contract negotiations, budgetary control, risk management, due diligence, implementation and project board reporting.
Julian Bartlett (Road Safety)
B Eng, MIHT
Julian is an experienced Traffic Engineer specialising in road safety and vulnerable road user issues. HD19 compliant RSA Team Leader having undertaken over 2000 audits, all stages mainly HA trunk road. Also worked in Ireland and a number of projects in Abu Dhabi, Bahrain, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and Qatar. Past Chair of Society of Road Safety Auditors (SoRSA) previously Membership Secretary and a Fellow of the Society. Actively involved with developing SoRSA internationally and furthering the aims of the Society. Experience in preliminary design and problem solving is a forte as is balancing the needs of numerous conflicting projects and clients. This requires a strong analytical approach particularly to project planning and organisation balanced against the ability to freely think in blue sky approach. I am a team player and manager ensuring that the people who work with me develop in their abilities and learn at every opportunity to construct a happy and motivated team.
Julian is a qualified audit team leader in terms of Quality, Health and Safety and Environmental Managements Systems to the relevant international and national standards ISO9001, ISO14001 and OSHAS18001. Experience in undertake both 3rd party auditing as well as specialist consultancy services within these areas.
Chai Tan (Videographer)
BA
Chai is a self-shooting producer/director and is director of productions for numerous clients. Chai possesses strong narrative skills has demonstrated an aptitude for successfully planning, coordinating and executing shoots and productions for clients. Chai’s experience as a cameraman has included working as a 2nd camera assistant/clapper loader, 1st camera assistant as a focus puller and camera operator on numerous jobs working as a self-shooting Producer/Director. Chai has experience working with the private sector, government sector and academic institutions, where he produced video content for online consumption, websites, and Social Media Marketing.
Chai graduated with a BA in Film and Video from the International Film School of Wales. He has worked extensively on a number of films and projects including short films, feature films, documentaries, music videos, marketing videos and business-to-business corporate communications for websites and social media marketing and search engine optimisation.
Previous project includes the University of South Wales/LIMNet (Self shooting DP). This project was to film and record a networking event run by University of South Wales. The film was commissioned to raise awareness and foster cooperation between Public, Private, and academic institutions by promoting low environmental impact materials construction. Chai was responsible for the Planning, preparation, working to client brief, execution of shoot during live event, managing post production, produce relevant content, Conduct Interviews, syndication of video to relevant organisation.
Michael Brewer (Designer)
BSc, PGCE
A professional with a PGCE qualification, and fully versatile in using AutoCAD/AutoDesk as a drafting tool. Michael has many years of experience working in the engineering world using Computer Numerical Control (CNC), and Computer Aided Design (CAD). Mike’s career path has later taken him into the Education Sector and whilst working as the head of the Design & Technology department in one of the local schools in Cardiff. An experience kitchen designer previously offered his expertise for a local kitchen design and fit-out company. A Part time associate tutor teaching AutoCAD (2-D and 3-D) for CCW-Training Academy, and as a Lecturer with Bridgend College.
Dan Weston (Drone Specialist)
BSc Hons
Dan is a degree-qualified Civil Engineer with circa 14 years experience in the water sector. His experience includes a range of design build projects for a number of leading consultancies having worked on both infrastructure and non-infrastructure schemes. More recently, Dan has entered the the world of aerial surveying through the use of drones to create 3D Photogrammetry models which can be used to give a visual representation of sites and even extract data such as ground levels. Dan is PfCO qualified with the CAA and, in addition to the 3D modelling services, is also competent in carrying out inspection flights for hard/dangerous to reach areas and media services to provide aerial photographs and videos.
